New Delhi, 01 October (NNS): The production of wheat showed uptrend and due to the government’s effective procurement strategy, it has increased its procurement by 11/12 lakh metric tonnes above the target and reaching 356–357 lakh metric tonnes. After the decrement in the prices during the previous fortnight, the emergence of South Indian demand led to a rise of Rs 80/90 per quintal. Apart from this, the prices of wheat for mill-quality wheat is currently quoted at around Rs 2960/2870 per quintal at the upper levels. At these prices, stocks should continue to be sold because there is considerable pressure of stocks in both government and private warehouses. Farmers have also started selling at higher prices. On the other hand, the government may also release wheat under OMSS (Open Market Sale Scheme).
Fine Rice: Competitive Buying of New Crop
New Delhi, 01 October (NNS):The supply of basmati paddy is currently 20/er22 percent higher compared with the same period last year. However, strong buying by exporters has encouraged stockists to enter the market aggressively. As a result, 1509 rice prices have increased by Rs 10/12 per kg from lower levels, while paddy prices have also risen to Rs 78 per kg. The crop of paddy gets adversely affected due to the recent rainfall, but since this storm arrived about a month earlier than last year, the damage is not expected to be significant.Considering all these factors, the market is expected to remain weak next week. It would be more profitable to sell stocks purchased earlier at the current levels. Here, 1509 sela rice has reached Rs 84/85 per kg, while steam rice is now quoted at Rs 85/86 per kg. Further gains at these levels appear risky.Exporters had shown strong demand for September shipments in recent days, but most of those requirements have now been fulfilled. Exporters are not entering into many new deals. Therefore, even if prices rise another Rs 3/4 per kg and the market appears risky at these levels.
Maize: Market may likely to Remain Under Pressure
New Delhi, 01 October (NNS):Selling of maize seems high in the mandis of Bihar, while buying by major companies has come to a standstill, due to this, the prices showed downfall. In Uttar Pradesh, although stocks have largely been exhausted, stockholders have started releasing their holdings. Meanwhile, the new crop is standing ready in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.Maize from Bihar delivered to Haryana and Punjab is being traded at around Rs 2650/2700 per quintal, while Madhya Pradesh maize is being offered at around Rs 25002/550 per quintal delivered.Ethanol companies are getting tendered rice at competitive prices. Considering all these factors, the maize market is likely to remain under pressure for now.
Millet: prices may show downfall
New Delhi, 01 October (NNS): Due to the ongoing favourable weather conditions, the arrivals of millet from Haryana and Rajasthan since September seems constant. However, as maize prices remain high, demand for bajra from the cattle-feed and poultry-feed sectors showed uptrend. Stockists also started buying as soon as prices reached Rs 2050/2075 per quinta and now, its prices have reached to Rs 2150/2,160 per quintal. Warehouse delivery prices were also being quoted higher. In the Mauli-Barwala delivery market, trades had taken place at up to Rs 2450 per quintal, but over the last two days prices have declined to around Rs 2400. There are no buyers at these levels, while companies are asking around Rs 2350 per quintal.Considering these developments, the prices of millet will likely to reman firm during the coming days.
Masoor: Overseas Supply to Prevent a Prolonged Rally
New Delhi, 01 October (NNS): The supply of masoor have declined in the Mungawali, Ganj Basoda, Bina, Biaora, Bhopal and Ashoknagar lines of Madhya Pradesh, due to this, the development seems weak at Indian ports in recent days and the prices of Canadian masoor also went up by Rs 300 to Rs 6300 per quintal here. Althoug, Canadian masoor prices have started being quoted higher than earlier, pressure from the arrival of the new crop is increasing there, and sellers have started emerging at lower levels.Considering these factors, Canadian masoor is likely to prevent a prolonged rise in both Canadian and desi bold masoor.
Urad:heavy Shortage of Raw Material
New Delhi, 01 October (NNS):Urad has arrived across all major kharif-growing regions, but the actual crop availability does not appear to match the much-publicised expectations of a large production.Due to competitive buying of Burmese urad, FAQ prices have increased by s 200 over the last two days to Rs 9,550 per quintal, while Chennai markets are now quoting around Rs 9200 at the lower levels.Urad prices are currently higher than the landed cost in Myanmar, while supplies are also scarce across markets. As a result, the market has been trading at unviable levels for several days.SQ urad has reached Rs 10350 per quintal. Due to the shortage of ready stocks, the demand from dal mills remains strong. Therefore, after a brief consolidation, the market is expected to rise by another RS 300 per quintal.
Moong : Limited \downfall
New Delhi, 01 October (NNS):New moong is arriving from Rajasthan, but arrivals of old moong from the mandis of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar low. Meanwhile, exporters continue to show intermittent but strong buying interest in good-quality stocks. As a result, the market is gradually rising instead of declining.Good-quality Rajasthan moong is now being quoted at Rs 8600/8800 per quintal, while new, lower-quality arrivals are trading at Rs 8200/8400 per quintal.Unlike last year, the quality difference is not as significant this year. Old inferior-quality moong is trading between Rs 6800/7500 per quintal.Since the pressure of arrivals has not increased in the mandis, there appears to be little scope for a decline over the next few days.
Tur: prices may show increment
New Delhi, 01 October (NNS):Due to recent rains, prices of green vegetables such as spinach, ridge gourd, okra and cauliflower have increased. \ Meanwhile, stocks in Chennai are not substantial, while shipment prices for Burmese tur are being quoted at considerably higher levels. As a result, lemon tur has increased to Rs 9025/9\050 per quintal. With prices rising in Burma, further gains are expected. Therefore, the market is likely to rise again towards ₹9,500 per quintal.
Gram desi: Bullish Trend to Continue
New Delhi, 01 October (NNS):There are currently no significant arrivals of chana from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. As a result, Rajasthan chana prices have increased to Rs 7050/7060 per quintal.Local and dispatch demand for dal has also strengthened following the recent decline in prices. With no pressure of arrivals in Rajasthan, Karnataka and Maharashtra, a further Rs 500 per quintal rise is expected as soon as buying demand improves. Therefore, good-quality chana should continue to be purchased at current prices. Crop availability is limited across all states.
Rajma Chitra: Shortage of Stock
New Delhi, 01 October (NNS):Strong buying from Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Punjab has resulted in a ₹400–500 per quintal increase in Indian/Brazil rajma.Indian/Brazil-quality rajma is reportedly trading at around Rs 117/118 per kg, depending on quality. Despite these higher prices, stocks remain scarce. In reality, around 90% of Indian/Brazil rajma and Varun stocks have already moved into stockists’ hands. Meanwhile, China is quoting ready shipments at another $15/20 per tonne higher, as a major stockist there is actively buying. Most trading is currently taking place in Indian/Brazil rajma.Due to severe water shortage in the Barshi region, sowing is likely to decline. Considering these factors, further intermittent gains are expected.
Gram kabuli: will remain high
New Delhi, 01 October (NNS): The gram kabuli of Maharashtra has increased by ₹10 per kg over the past 10 days, reaching around Rs 80/82 per kg.Although sellers are not offering stocks at lower prices, profits should also be booked at higher levels.Meanwhile, international prices remain high. As normal conditions gradually return to global markets, the domestic market may also see another sharp rise.In the Dabra line of Madhya Pradesh, moisture conditions are currently unsuitable for sowing the crop. Old stocks have also been substantially depleted.Considering these factors, the current price levels appear bullish.
Peas: No Major Risk in Buying
New Delhi, 01 October (NNS):Due to lower pea production and expensive imports, stocks in the distributing markets remain limited. As of today, when material is sought from Mundra Port, the landed cost is quite high. Due to weak demand, peas are being sold in the Delhi market at a disparity.Meanwhile, shortages are beginning to emerge in Odisha, Assam, Jharkhand and West Bengal, resulting in loading of peas from Indian ports for these regions. Therefore, there appears to be no significant risk in buying peas at present.
