Prices of average-quality cumin declined by Rs 200 per quintal a day earlier to Rs 28600/29400 per quintal. Ahead of cumin sowing for the upcoming rabi season in Gujarat and Rajasthan during October–November, uncertainty over weather conditions and temperatures has led to continued volatility and sharp movements in futures trading. Arrivals at Unjha and other major mandis remain limited, while farmers and traders continue to hold back their stocks in anticipation of higher prices despite the recent improvement in rates. After a period of consolidation, a further rise of around Rs 20 per kg is expected in the coming days.
