New Delhi, 30 October (NNS): Wheat supplies in mandis showed downfall, due to this, the prices of mill delievery prices improved by Rs 10 to Rs 3,160/Rs 3,170 per quintal. Government warehouses are holding substantial wheat stocks, but the government is not releasing supplies in sufficient quantities. Government procurement has already exceeded its target. Gross wheat production has reached a record level of 1,202 lakh metric tonnes. However, increased movement of wheat towards southern and northeastern states, along with competitive buying by exporters, has pushed prices higher. Nevertheless, wheat should be sold at the prevailing levels.

Fine Rice: prices may increase amid Weather Conditions

New Delhi, 30 October (NNS): Exporters are actively purchasing fine rice. Meanwhile, adverse weather conditions have further reduced arrivals in Haryana, Punjab and western Uttar Pradesh, pushing market prices higher. Over the past week, prices of all varieties of Basmati rice have increased by Rs 3/ 4 per kg. The prices of 1509 Sela and Steam rice are almost at par, ruling between Rs 8,500/Rs 8,600 per quintal. This has also led to a significant rise in old stocks of 1718 and 1401 rice. Under these circumstances, there appears to be no logical reason for a market decline at present. Rainfall and strong winds caused by Cyclone Arnab have flattened crops in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Arrivals in Haryana have also declined due to rainfall. Considering these developments, prices are likely to remain firm for a few more days, although traders may incur losses at a later stage.

Maize:  Buying by Stockists Increases

New Delhi, 30 October (NNS): Competitive buying of maize has increased in Madhya Pradesh. Recently, prices had declined by Rs 100 to Rs 2,800/Rs 2,900 per quintal at railway rake points along the Chhindwara, Linga and sayani belt. However, major companies have now started purchasing competitively even in mandis. Considering this, the possibility of a further price rise appears strong. Maize production has increased during the new Kharif season. Buying by ethanol companies has also pushed prices up by Rs 150/Rs 160 per quintal in the Haryana and Punjab delivery markets. Purchases should be made at the prevailing rates.

Millet: Prices Likely to Rise Further

New Delhi, 30 October (NNS): millet is witnessing strong demand from all quarters, keeping the market on a sharp upward trajectory. With arrivals declining sharply in Haryana and Rajasthan, prices have increased by Rs 100 per quintal during the current week, reaching Rs 2,700/Rs 2,725 per quintal for delivery at Mauli-Barwala. Although the crop has been quite good due to adequate rainfall and increased sowing, consumption has increased by nearly 50%, resulting in a shortage of supplies. Considering these factors, the long-term market outlook remains bullish.

Masoor : No Possibility for downfall

New Delhi, 30 October (NNS): Masoor supplies from the Mungawali, Ganj Basoda, Sagar, Bhopal, Binaganj and Ashoknagar belt have almost been exhausted. Meanwhile, Canadian supplies are also becoming expensive. The dollar has strengthened somewhat, pushing up prices there. As a result, masoor prices in billti trade have increased by another Rs 100 to Rs 6,740/Rs 6,750 per quintal. Arrivals in mandis have declined sharply, Canadian imports are becoming considerably expensive, and there is no substantial domestic stock in the pipeline. Considering these factors, there appears to be absolutely no possibility of a market decline.

Urad: Shortage of Stocks in the Market

The import parity price of urad has become expensive. On the other hand, stocks in Chennai are limited, while recent reports indicate that shipment prices in Yangon have increased by USD 10 per tonne. With demand from dal mills remaining quite strong, FAQ urad is ruling at Rs 9,750 per quintal, while SQ urad is quoted at Rs 10,250 per quintal. Although urad sowing was higher in the Gangoh belt of Uttar Pradesh, productivity is reportedly good. However, since the produce is moving towards Kolkata, supplies are being sold continuously. As a result, urad availability across markets is reportedly lower than consumption requirements, prompting dal millers to purchase larger quantities of upcoming container shipments. Meanwhile, dispatch demand for urad dal, both washed and unwashed varieties, has increased considerably. Under these circumstances, there is no fundamental weakness in the market.

Moong: Shortage of Superior Quality Stock

New Delhi, 30 October (NNS): Moong crops from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand have been exhausted in the mandis. Currently, supplies from Uttar Pradesh are reaching mills in Narela, Najafgarh, Rai and Kundli. Depending on quality, moong is ruling between Rs 7,200/Rs 7,800 per quintal. The actual market situation is that China is purchasing superior-quality moong. Exporters are buying good-quality stocks at Rs 8,300/Rs 8,600 per quintal. Over the past 15 years, moong cultivation in China has almost come to an end, as farmers there have increasingly shifted their focus towards soybean and Rajma Chitra. Domestic consumption of protein-rich food products, including moong, remains high in China. Consequently, the price difference between superior and lower-quality moong is likely to widen. Superior-quality moong may witness a further rise of Rs 200 per quintal.

Tur:  Prices Likely to Rise Again

New Delhi, 30 October (NNS): Tur stocks are not particularly high in any mandi. With dal sales improving, millers have started purchasing lemon-quality tur at the prevailing rates. Stocks of dal at mills are also limited. Most importantly, mills in the Katni belt are also facing a shortage of raw material this year, as supplies from the Neemuch belt have declined. Following the recent price correction, widespread buying has pushed lemon-quality tur prices up to Rs 9,800 per quintal. Arrivals in mandis remain limited, and with insufficient stocks in the pipeline, lemon tur prices are expected to move towards Rs 10,500 per quintal.

Gram desi: Severe Shortage of Supply

New Delhi, 30 October (NNS): The entire gram desi crop has already reached government and private warehouses, while supplies in mandis have declined sharply. This year, production is estimated at only 90–91 lakh metric tonnes, due to which mandis are not witnessing any significant supply pressure. As a result, Rajasthani gram is ruling at Rs 7,500/Rs 7,525 per quintal in the standing-meter trade, while lower-quality dal is selling at Rs 8,450 per quintal. Its landed cost works out to at least Rs 8,600 per quintal, which is why dal mills are also purchasing in limited quantities. The gram of Australia is already available at high import parity prices. Considering all these circumstances, gram desi prices are likely to rise further.

Rajma Chitra:  Shortage of crop in the Satara Belt

New Delhi, 30 October (NNS): Rajma Chitra supplies from the Satara, Khatav, Mayani, Koregaon and Pune belt have been exhausted. Varun-quality produce, which was selling at Rs 107/Rs 108 per kg last month at the lower end, is currently fetching Rs 120/Rs 122 per kg for superior quality. With demand for Rajma Chitra remaining strong, buyers have entered the market for Indian-Brazilian varieties at Rs 128/Rs 132 per kg. Trading activity with China is limited. Future deals with China are becoming expensive due to considerably higher prices there, resulting in reduced trade. Consequently, Indian-Brazilian varieties continue to move higher and may witness another significant jump from the current levels.

Gram kabuli: Prices will increase

New Delhi, 30 October (NNS): Arrivals of gram Kabuli from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka have completely ended. However, trading activity remains limited across mandis, keeping medium-quality prices at Rs 82/85 per kg. Lower-grade small-grain varieties are selling at even lower rates. Market discussions suggest that substantial quantities of gram Kabuli are lying in cold storage, which has kept traders cautious about anticipating a price rise. However, a closer look at international markets indicates the possibility of a sharp price increase sooner or later.

Pea: Trade Expected to Remain High

Due to lower production of peas, a shortage of supplies is being witnessed across markets. It has been barely five months since the crop arrived, but supplies in Lalitpur, Jhansi and other mandis have already declined sharply. The actual situation is that stocks at Indian ports are also not particularly high this year. Moreover, the weakening of the rupee against the dollar has made imports from Canada considerably more expensive compared to last year. This is why demand for domestic peas has started increasing. Stocks that had remained unsold for several years, even during periods of declining prices, are now witnessing increased selling activity. As of today, spot trading is taking place at no less than Rs 47/47.50 per kg. Considering all these factors, peas currently selling at Rs 50/Rs 51 per kg are likely to witness a further rise of Rs 5 per kg.

Guar gum: no decrement

New Delhi, 30 October (NNS): The prices of guar gum remained strong at Rs 15400/15500 per quintal due to the weak demand from the gum powder manufacturers. In Jodhpur Mandi, its prices remained at Rs 8000/8050 per quintal owing to the constant selling from the stockists. In the markets of Haryana, its prices remained stable at the same level. There is no possibility of more downfall in the prices during the near future.
