New Delhi, 29 October (NNS): Small desi ghee plants are currently finding it uneconomical to procure liquid milk, as their finished products are selling at lower prices. Consequently, production of both desi ghee and butter has showed downfall. On the other hand, export demand for butter has been increased, due to this, its prices rose to Rs 10100/10350 per tin. A significant portion of the butter stocks held by plants has reportedly been committed for export. With butter prices ruling high in international markets, trades are being reported at $5750/5950 per tonne. Under these circumstances, desi ghee prices are unlikely to decline over the next few days.
Milk Powder: Prices of All Grades to Remain at Higher Level
New Delhi, 29 October (NNS): Temperatures in the rural areas of North India have declined to 25/26 degrees Celsius. Following the impact of El-Niño and the recent Arnab cyclone in the South, the availability of liquid milk has remained at the lower level. As a result, milk powder production is insufficient to meet demand. Meanwhile, the consumption of milk powder for conversion into liquid milk has increased by 10%, as Uttar Pradesh has tightened its crackdown on adulteration. Consequently, milk powder prices remained stable at Rs 340/353 per kg. Prices have also risen in the South due to a shortage of stocks with federations. Demand for milk powder is expected to remain strong even after Diwali.
