New Delhi, 15 October (NNS): The government has imposed strict restrictions on the sale of adulterated milk, curd, paneer and other dairy products. As a result, adulteration has declined to some extent as compared to the previous level. Under these circumstances, milk powder prices may increase during the near future. The supply have gradually increased in the processing plants, but they are still 12–13 percent lower than during the corresponding period last year. Consequently, the production of milk powder remains insufficient to meet consumption requirements. Notably, the demand from khoya manufacturers and food-processing companies reported to be strong, due to this, the prices of premium-quality milk powder firm at Rs 340/353 per kg amid bullish sentiment. A company in Uttar Pradesh reduced its prices by Rs 5 per kg yesterday, but the move had little impact on the overall market. Meanwhile, buying interest has resumed in South India at prevailing prices. Cow milk powder of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu is also available at higher prices. Under these circumstances, there is no fundamental bearishness in the market at present.
Desi Ghee: Prices Expected to Rise Before Diwali
New Delhi, 15 October (NNS): The prices of good quality products showed uptrend due to the strict action against adulterated desi ghee. Under these circumstances, there is virtually no scope for a significant decline in the prices of desi ghee. The Production reported to be weak as compared to the same period of the previous year, due to this, the prices of liquid milk increased by Rs 6 this year which making production economically unviable for companies. Companies are focusing on butter production, as export demand has also started increasing constantly. Today, the supply of liquid milk stood at 74–75 lakh litres. Meanwhile, festive demand during the Ashwin-Kartik period is ongoing, which is expected to keep liquid milk prices firm. Consequently, desi ghee prices are likely to rise again after a few days. Premium-quality desi ghee is currently trading in the range of Rs 10100/10350 per tin. Strict action against adulterated products has been underway since last month, and supplies are therefore expected to remain short for the time being.
