New Delhi, 23 September (NNS): Currently, the supply of liquid milk is lower than expected due to humid weather despite the ongoing season. At the same time, export demand showed improved trend and also a shortage of the stored stock, so dairy plants have very little ready stock. Companies are also facing strong competition while buying liquid milk. As a result, they have increased the prices by Re 1 to Rs 64/64.50 per litre. The domestic demand for milk powder also seems high. Companies are therefore trading milk powder at higher prices of Rs 320/333 per kg. Milk powder from South India is now becoming more expensive when brought to North India. Therefore, instead of coming to North India, huge amount of stock is going for export and to Eastern India. This has increased the value of domestic stock. Festive demand for Ashwin month is currently strong, so the outlook for the market is positive. Milk powder and maltodextrin-based products are also arriving in smaller quantities in the markets.

Desi Ghee – Demand Expected to Remain Strong

New Delhi, 23 September (NNS): Due to downfall in the supply of liquid milk, the prices of milk in North India have remained around Rs 64/64.50 per litre this week. At the same time, export demand of both butter and desi ghee seems high. Because of this, there are no pressure in the companies to sell their stock at the current level. As a result, companies have increased  the premium-quality desi ghee by Rs 75 two days ago and reached to Rs 9700/9900 per tin. However, some material is being sold in the market after the decrement of Rs 100 per quintal. Sample-approved material is trading around Rs 7900/8000. At the current prices, the outlook for desi ghee trade remains positive.
